Regrettably, due to significantly reduced capacities currently allowed at sporting events, the decision has been taken not to open the Village, Windsor and Heath Enclosures at this year’s Royal Meeting (15th to 19th June).
Current indications are that daily capacity will be between 4,000 and 10,000 this year. With that in mind, only the Royal Enclosure and Queen Anne Enclosure will open as these are the Enclosures that can operate with reduced temporary facilities. The Village, Windsor and Heath Enclosures are constructed from scratch and it is unfortunately impractical to build them for what would be very small numbers. We do not expect to hear further as to whether we will be permitted a crowd of 4,000 or 10,000 and the social distancing regimes which will apply until after Easter at the earliest.
Whilst we continue to develop our plans, we would be most grateful if correspondence with the Royal Enclosure office could be avoided. We will update our website as soon as we have further information. We anticipate that Her Majesty’s Representative will be in a position to write to Royal Enclosure Members with more details about capacity and facilities after Easter when we anticipate the Government will have formally announced the move to Step 2 of the Roadmap.
With kind regards,
Guy Henderson, Chief Executive, Ascot.
