On 24th June the government published updated COVID-19 secure guidance that will allow certain businesses to reopen from 4th July.
The opening of elite sport venues to the general public remains subject to separate guidance yet to be published by government and this is scheduled to be part of “Stage Five.”
We are currently at “Stage Three,” which permits the return of competition for elite athletes without spectators. As a result, all of our race meetings are currently being staged behind closed doors under strict guidelines and operating instructions from the British Horseracing Authority (BHA).
The BHA and Racecourse Association are working directly with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport as well as Public Health England on the “Stage Five” guidance and we await publication before we, and our racecourse colleagues around the country, can begin to plan for the return of the public at racecourses.
