As always at Ascot, the action on the track is only part of the story. There is entertainment from tribute acts, a wealth of innovative menus and Champagne & cocktail bars adding to the occasion.
The feature race itself is, in part, a nod to Royal Ascot, albeit also a prestigious prize in its own right. Many of the participants in the Victoria Cup, a seven-furlong handicap, will return to contest a major handicap at the Royal Meeting, as shown in 2019's winner, Cape Byron, who went on to win The Wokingham Stakes. With prize money well in excess of £100,000, it’s a race that every trainer and jockey wants to win.
