This headline race day of our two-day Italian Tourist Board Festival of Food and Wine Weekend is a real feast for the senses. Top class flat racing takes place amid a host of culinary attractions, a day when elite sports people and culinary experts share top billing.
Saturday’s race card is headlined by The Lavazza Handicap Stakes, one of the UK’s most valuable mile-and-a-half handicap. Six more ultra-competitive flat races take place.
The likes of Raymond Blanc OBE and James Tanner have graced our Gastronomes Theatre in previous years, with samplings and tastings from Lavazza Coffee, Chapel Down and Hallgarten Wines on display in 2018. Racegoers will be able to sample and purchase food and wines from stalls in the Grandstand. A full line-up for 2019 will be unveiled soon.
