This headline race day of our two-day Italian Tourist Board Festival of Food and Wine Weekend is a real feast for the senses. Top class Flat racing takes place amid a host of culinary attractions, a day when elite sports people and culinary experts share top billing.
Saturday’s racecard is headlined by The Lavazza Handicap Stakes, one of the UK’s most valuable mile-and-a-half handicap. Six more ultra-competitive flat races take place.
Raymond Blanc OBE, James Tanner and Master Patissier Eric Lanlard, who wowed racegoers at Royal Ascot, are among those confirmed for the Gastronomes Theatre this year, while Hallgarten will host an Italian themed wine tasting featuring more than 20 wines. Pernod Ricard will offer racegoers a Scotch v Irish Whiskey tasting, while there will be ample time to sample and purchase a brilliant range of food and wines from the Grandstand.
