Fortunate George impresses at Ascot

The Prince’s Countryside Fund Racing Weekend and Christmas Shopping Fair jumped off to an exciting start as Fortunate George won the Waitrose Handicap Chase.

The seven-year-old has been active so far this season and grabbed his first win of the campaign in stunning style.

Also on the card, Walk in the Mill was the winner of the Davidstow Handicap Chase for trainer Robert Walford.

James Best helped the stable-star produce a superb final jump to fly clear and land at odds of 8/1.

Dolos landed the opening race of the day for Paul Nicholls in fine style with favourite Sizing Tennessee falling early in the race.

Kildisart and Daryl Jacob won the Prince’s Countryside Fund Beginners Chase and The David Brownlow Charitable Foundation "introductory" Hurdle Race.

Verdana Blue won the final race of the day, the Coutts Handicap Hurdle.

Racing returns to Ascot on Saturday for the second day of the Prince’s Countryside Fund Racing Weekend and Christmas Shopping Fair.
