The Festival of Food and Wine Racing Weekend returns

Foodies and racegoers alike are invited to a glorious weekend of feasting, drinking and racing on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th September 2017, as part of the four-day Festival of Food & Wine Racing Weekend at Ascot Racecourse.

Raymond Blanc OBE and Candice Brown will be headlining the chef demonstration stage on Saturday 9th September with wine expert Neil Phillips talking visitors through his pick of wines.

Making the event line-up even sweeter, celebrated baker Candice Brown has annouced that she’ll be creating a signature cake to be served as part of Ascot’s afternoon tea menu.

The newspaper columnist and much-loved television baker has just published her first cookbook, Comfort: Delicious Bakes and Family Treats, which is all about hearty bakes for home-cooks. With regular TV appearances, live demonstrations, show-stopping cakes and an impressive array of on-trend lipstick shades, great things are expected of her afternoon tea.

Also on Saturday 9th September, racegoers can also look forward to a four-course menu designed by renowned chefs Raymond Blanc OBE, Phil Howard and James Tanner, alongside Ascot’s award-winning head chef Ben Dutson. To be served in the Parade Ring Restaurant, dishes will be perfectly complemented by a fine wine selection curated by connoisseurs, Bibendum. Fine Dining packages in ON5 Restaurant and the Parade Ring Restaurant start from £178+VAT per person. Private Boxes start from £170.50+VAT per person.

The four-day Festival of Food & Wine runs alongside two days of Ascot’s Flat season racing and is one of the summer’s culinary highlights. As well as live chef demonstrations, more than 140 stallholders will be showcasing scrumptious produce from across Britain and beyond. Top chefs, including two-Michelin star holder Raymond Blanc OBE, will be hosting demonstrations in the Cooking Theatre with barbecue masterclasses and communal eating at The Social Kitchen available each day.

Jonathan Parker, Director of Food & Beverage at Ascot Racecourse, said: “Quality food and drink is an important part of the Ascot Racecourse offering and extends across all 26 of the year’s racedays. The Festival of Food & Wine Racing Weekend in September is a culinary highlight, combining two days of exhilarating Flat racing with a four-day celebration of food and wine, with appearances and demonstrations from some of the UK’s top chefs.

“The incredible array of British food and wine available across more than 140 stalls highlights our continued commitment to delivering excellent food and Fine Dining experiences to our guests, raising the bar year-on-year.”
