Tabarrak and Frankie Dettori won the AGV Handicap Stakes feature race at Ascot on Friday night.
Second place Atlantic Sun battled Tabarrak throughout the final furlong with the pair going all out for the win.
After a lengthy stewards enquiry, the stewards confirmed no placings would be altered and so 3/1 Tabarrak took the £14,568 winner’s prize pot.
It was Ascot’s sole race night of the year and spectators were out in force to watch an exciting race card from start to finish.
In the opener over two miles, favourite Argent King won a thrilling finish to pip Seaside Sizzler on the nod in a photo finish.
Arguably the most impressive display of the evening came from the second race winner Camargue for Mark Johnston in the five furlong Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.
Ridden by Joe Fanning, the two-year-old stole a march with two furlongs to go and never looked in trouble to win by a comfortable margin.
American filly Abingdon was also impressive in winning the Fillies’ Stakes over one mile about two furlongs for Sir Michael Stoute.
There was an upset in the fourth race as 16/1 Muir Lodge launched to success over six furlongs for Pat Cosgrave.
The final race went to Taurean Star at 25/1.
