Impressive Hong Kong Cup winner A Shin Hikari stormed to success in the Prix d’Ispahan at Chantilly on his European debut on Tuesday.
The heavy ground proved no worry for the Japanese superstar who touched 5/1 before the race as conditions and impressive opposition looked to be testing.
The Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot is now the aim for trainer Masanori Sakaguchi who admits the ground was a huge worry before the stunning ten lengths victory which was the ninth largest winning margin in Group 1 history.
"He put in a really strong performance today," said Sakaguchi.
"He is used to going straight to the front and that wasn't case today. I asked myself if he would resent being led but he ran a beautiful race.
"It was the owner's choice to come to France. The ground was a big worry today but he has done it magnificently. He will now go to England for Royal Ascot."
