Aidan O’Brien’s Caravaggio and Wesley Ward’s Lady Aurelia are set to clash in the Prix Morny at Deauville on August 21.
Two of the most impressive winners at Royal Ascot 2016 will come head-to-head after both O’Brien and Ward confirmed the French race was the aim next.
Caravaggio sauntered to another comfortable win at the Curragh on Sunday, after going off the 1-8 favourite, and the Coventry Stakes winner will now head to France.
"He's a very good horse and everything went 100 per cent. In his last piece of work he hit a top speed of 45 miles per hour - no horse in Ballydoyle has ever been able to do that,” O’Brien told Racing UK.
"He's very pacey and has a great mind. He's so relaxed he could get further, but I'd say we'll have a look at the Morny.
"He's the fastest we have ever had and I'd not be in a rush to go over seven furlongs. He could always go for the Middle Park after the Morny."
Lady Aurelia waltzed to an eight length win at Royal Ascot in the Queen Mary Stakes with Frankie Dettori on board and is set for the Prix Morny too – pitting two of the most impressive sprinters in the world against each other.
