Dartmouth, owned by Her Majesty The Queen, is set to return at Newbury on Saturday in the Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup.
Three wins this season, including in the Hardwicke Stakes on the final day of Royal Ascot, were followed up with a battling third in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot in July behind the impressive Highland Reel.
The Hardwicke Stakes will be one of the everlasting memories of 2016’s Royal Ascot with The Queen cheering home her four-year-old and then the patient wait for a steward’s enquiry after the finish.
Saturday’s Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup is a drop down in grade for Dartmouth, but the initial confirmations do including some tough opposition with the likes of The Grey Gatsby, Kings Fete and Ol’ Man River among the 19-strong field.
QIPCO British Champions Day is still an outside late entry for Dartmouth, depending on how Saturday's race at Newbury goes.
