As celebrations continue for The Queen's 90th birthday we take a look at some of her past winners here at Ascot as an owner.
Horses, and horse racing in particular, have played a huge part in The Queen’s reign and she has been fortunate to own several top-class thoroughbreds, culminating in 71 winners at Ascot since she ascended the throne in 1952.
Royal Ascot remains the pinnacle for any owner, trainer or jockey and with The Queen in attendance every day during the Royal Meeting, a week here in June is that little more special. A royal winner is always very popular amongst the Royal Ascot faithful, none more so than Estimate's Gold Cup victory in 2013.
That thrilling win was the first Gold Cup success for a reigning monarch and was ridden by impressive jockey Ryan Moore, who still puts that day among his best in the sport.
Estimate was kind to the Queen, winning three times at Ascot, but other horses have also earned a hat-trick of wins for her including Whitechapel between 1992 and 1994 and Aureole 1953-1954.
Choir Boy was the Queen’s first Royal Ascot winner in 1953 ridden by Doug Smith and started a spell of impressive wins for the monarch, owning seven winners at Ascot over the first two years of her reign.
Of course winners are harder to come by these days with more owners, trainers and horses competing.
But whether it is on the flat or over fences, The Queen has continued to enjoy success as an owner.
Special Agent triumphed in a maiden hurdle during last year's Prince's Countryside Fund Raceday - a day staged to raised money for her son's charity - and Dartmouth, delivered in the Johnny Brett Handicap Stakes during the First July meeting.
The Queen has also overseen a number of leading jockeys take the reins over the years with Willie Carson being the most successful, winning eight races in seven years, including three in 1979.
Ryan Moore has enjoyed success four times when riding for The Queen, while Sir Michael Stoute cemented his reputation as a leading trainer as he guided Estimate to her successes in 2012 and 2013 at Royal Ascot.
