This Sunday, 29th March, sees us celebrate the conclusion of the Jumps Season at Ascot by hosting The Prince’s Countryside Fund Raceday.
Alongside racing you can enjoy a wide range of countryside-inspired activities and Easter entertainment.
Children gain free entry and will be spoilt for choice with the number of fun events and performances on the day. Pony rides, welly throwing competitions and a full petting farm are just some of the activities on offer to keep the whole family amused.
In addition, interactive and educational demonstrations will take place between races, including a magnificent falconry display, the hilarious duck herding ‘Quack Pack’, and much more. Ascot’s Colts & Fillies Club* ambassadors, TV presenters Ant & Dec will also be coming down and taking part in a live chat in the Parade Ring.
As an Easter treat, Lindt will be hosting a Gold Bunny Easter Hunt. If you see a flash of gold bunny ears or hear the gentle tinkle of a bell, then you have found one of the clues. Trails will lead children through a magical Easter adventure as they solve the clues to receive their golden Lindt chocolate reward at the end.
Horses won’t be the only animals competing as the ‘The Campaign For Wool Lamb National’ is set to take place. Watch in amazement as Herdwick sheep negotiate a specially designed course and leap over hurdles in an attempt to earn their place in the Winners’ Enclosure. Fame and glory awaits the winner, it is a race that cannot be missed!
If that’s not enough visitors will also have the chance to meet ‘Know How’ the ex-racehorse, take a visit to Ferret World and marvel at the skilled craftsmanship in the saddle and wool making displays as well as watch a Dry Stone Walling demo. For the keen shoppers there will be many traditional countryside stalls located around the racecourse as Ascot plays host to some of the best suppliers of British made goods and produce including Hampshire Fare and Heritage Harvest who have been supported by The Prince’s Countryside Fund.
