This #ChocolateWeek (9-15thOctober) Ascot Racecourse has uncovered the nation’s favourite hot chocolate flavours to warm up the menu as the clocks soon turn back an hour and the nights grow longer.
The poll* offered 1,000 Brits the chance to vote for the flavour they’d like to see on the menu most choosing from Sea Salt & Fudge, Gingerbread & Spice, Peanut Butter & Caramel, Peppermint & Marshmallow, Black Cherry & Dark Chocolate, Orange & Cinnamon, White Chocolate & Cranberry and Classic Chocolate & Whipped Cream.
Topping the votes with 22.3% was the Classic Chocolate & Whipped Cream for the traditionalist hot chocolate drinkers. Coming second was Black Cherry & Dark Chocolate with 17.4% of the vote, possibly showing the nation’s love for the retro black forest gateaux, with Peanut Butter & Caramel coming in third with 13.2% showing that peanut butter is still a hot topic.
White Chocolate & Cranberry took 11.1% of the vote with Sea Salt & Fudge coming close behind with 10.1%. The bottom three were given the cold shoulder with Orange & Cinnamon, Gingerbread & Spice and Peppermint & Marshmallow getting 9.8%, 8.1% and 8% of the votes respectively.
The three favourites – Classic Chocolate & Whipped Cream, Black Cherry & Dark Chocolate and Peanut Butter & Caramel – will be available from selected bars and cafés at Ascot Racedays throughout the 2017 Jumps season, keeping racegoers cosy and warm this winter.
Jonathan Parker, Director of Food & Beverage, Ascot Racecourse, commented: “Heading into the winter season the culinary team will launch Ascot’s Jumps Season Menus filled with winter warmers such as Royal Estate Shepherd’s Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding. We’re always taking our customer feedback and using this valuable insight to help us shape a food and drink offering that is innovative and provides something tasty for all racegoers. A well-made hot chocolate is a thing of beauty, especially in the colder months, so we decided to uncover the flavours that the nation wanted and offer a choice of warming hot chocolates, from Classic Chocolate & Whipped Cream to a more adventurous Black Cherry & Dark Chocolate.”
