Wesley Ward’s Lady Aurelia flew home to win The Queen Mary Stakes by seven lengths on day two of Royal Ascot.
Frankie Dettori soared out of the five furlong gates and didn’t look book, pushing the button two furlongs out to extend a stunning advantage.
The Ascot Grandstand roared home the 9/4 favourite as the bookmakers turned away in agony.
Ward was bullish over Lady Aurelia’s chances after breaking a course record at Keenland on a previous run, however the soft ground had many questioning the chances.
Lady Aurelia followed up compatriot Tepin though, to earn America another impressive Royal Ascot win of 2016.
Dettori earned his 54thRoyal Ascot in the meantime and the leading jockey award for this year looks to be a fantastic competition.
Al Johrah for Al Shaqab Racing came second, with Clem Fandango third.
