Following on from the spectacle of Royal Ascot, the summer’s Flat racing season continues with the First July Weekend taking place on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July at Ascot Racecourse.
The First July Weekend meeting is the link between two of Ascot’s premier race meetings, falling between Royal Ascot in mid-June and the King George VI Weekend at the end of July. The two-day fixture is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a relaxed, summer day out at the races, with the chance to enjoy quality horse racing including the £100,000 Group 2 Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile on Saturday and the five-star facilities of the world’s most famous racecourse.
For the first time this year a newFamily Enclosureis being introduced on the Saturday for younger visitors. So while adult guests can enjoy top-class racing, Champagne bars and Ascot’s elegant picnic lawns, children and families will be entertained with free traditional fairground rides, a Teddy Bears’ Picnic, face painting, an arts and crafts area, a special visit from the Gruffalo and more. The Family Enclosure on this day is replacing our King George VI Weekend Family Sunday event which has traditionally been held in late July.
The Summer Mile Raceday on Saturday is preceded by the ninth annual Property Raceday on Friday 10th July which attracts over 800 leading corporate guests from the property industry in its annual bid to raise funds for children’s charities. More than £1million has been raised to date for charities including LandAid, WellChild and Wherever the Need.
Early-bird race-goers on both days (arriving at 11am), can enjoy a free, behind-the-scenes racecourse tour with one of Ascot’s bowler-hatted stewards. The tour includes a visit to the Weighing Room and Jockeys’ Changing Room.
With a number of spectacular restaurants and private boxes with breath-taking views overlooking the racecourse, Ascot provides the perfect setting for entertaining clients or celebrating an occasion with friends and family.
