Ascot Racecourse is proud to announce that Christy has been designated the ‘Official Textiles Supplier’ at Ascot Racecourse in a three-year deal.
Over the past 300 years, Ascot has established itself as a national institution, providing the ultimate stage for the best racehorses in the world with the Royal Meeting the centre-piece of the British social calendar.
Juliet Slot, Commercial Director at Ascot, welcomed the new relationship:
“We are delighted to be working with an organisation with a wonderful heritage and one which shares so many of our own values. We have an exciting range of Ascot and Royal Ascot products in development with Christy that will be available to racegoers and on the high street this summer.’’
Christy will develop an array of products for use at the racecourse ranging from horse blankets to table linen and it of course goes without saying, towels.
Christy and Ascot have centuries of rich history behind them and both are global leaders in their respective fields. Ascot stages 13 Group One races each year, more than any other British racecourse and the Christy legacy dates back to 1850, since when they have epitomised exemplary innovation and craftsmanship which has defined British textiles.
Christy were privileged enough to manufacture and supply the first terry towel to Queen Victoria over 165 years ago and have since established a reputation for luxury high end textiles. Today Christy enjoys increasing international success, creating stunning collections of towels and bed linen in addition to supplying The Championships, Wimbledon with the iconic towel used on centre court by the players.
Leigh Taylor, CEO, also welcomed the relationship:
“We are thrilled to be working with Ascot and to being present at the Royal racecourse. We have a distinguished reputation for providing exquisitely crafted textile products for over 165 years and we look forward to engaging with Ascot and their customers. This is a long term commitment for us and we recognise Ascot as a perfect partner as we develop Christy into an English lifestyle brand. We will be creating a similar range of exciting products that have become so successful and iconic with The Championships, Wimbledon.”
