Spring is around the corner which means it is nearly time for the Ascot Spring Garden Show. And as the earth bursts into flower and the bulbs start blooming, our team here at Kate Gould Gardens are energised and ready for action when it comes to a new event for any garden enthusiasts calendar. For the show Kate Gould Gardens has designed a garden with a strong evergreen feel called ‘A Garden for All Seasons’
Our brief for the design was to create a garden that had to be achievable for visitors and demonstrate all the usable functions a garden can have for an outdoor space. As well as the brief we had to take into consideration the time of year we would be exhibiting in and design with a range of plants available in Spring, that would also be looking their best. KGG went with a pallet that some may think is unusual for Spring as we usually think of yellows and blues as a strong spring colour association.
Kate has chosen a pallet of greens for the design thus demonstrating that this colour is far from boring and one dimensional. Nature of course paints her prettiest pictures with layers of greens, although sometimes we tend to view the greenery and foliage as the backdrop and definitely not the star of the “show”. The use of all different shades and textures of greens enables keen gardening visitors to take away ideas to implement this pallet in their own green spaces and maybe embrace the inspiring architectural quality of the chosen plants. Using texture and tonal shading can create a very calming and inviting outdoor space. Natural stone paving, sustainable bamboo decking provided by Loknan as well as corten steel panels and a pergola provide hard edges and add contrast to this exciting planting plan.
Outdoor space has long been coveted as an extra room of your house or apartment thus adding an alternative for alfresco dining as well as making the most of those light and long summer evenings for entertaining family and friends. ‘A Garden for All Seasons’ demonstrates lots of take home ideas to create the ultimate private relaxation area within your own home as well as being usable all through the year.
We are proud to have a number of product sponsors who are working with us to provide products and materials for the show. CED stone are providing us with a new paving product to the UK from Scotland, which are super excited to showcase for the first time. The wonderful Leisure Plan are providing a range of outdoor furniture by Dedon a Tibbo dining table and chairs along with super stylish Ahnda arm chairs perfect for lounging in front of the firepit late into the evening. The stunning firepit we are using has been loaned by Encompass and is called Zero. The Zero circular fire pit is designed by Ivano Losa and includes built-in log storage. Zero fire pit also functions as a BBQ and is available in a range of sizes."
To demonstrate the best in outdoor cooking OFYR will be loaning us the ‘OFYR Island 100. It is a functional artwork designed to bring beauty, warmth, food and friendship to your
