Spring Family Raceday

Review & Results

Sunday 2nd April 2017

Spring Family Raceday

Our first family raceday of 2017 is free for under 18s and offers a thrilling combination of top class racing and activities for racegoers of all ages. With spring in full swing, and Easter closing in, there are few better ways to spend a Sunday together.

Ascot’s final fixture of the 2016-17 Jumps season takes centre stage, with a mix of hurdles and chases for novices right through to veterans, attended by most of the UK’s leading jockeys and trainers.

Sections of the racecourse are split into zones, with each one providing children with fun attractions and hands-on activities. You can try your hand at some traditional crafts including basket making or wood turning, get up close to some furry friends in our petting zoo or enjoy a free pony ride - all included in the price of your ticket.

One of the highlights is our famous running of the ‘Lamb National’ – just under a week before the main equine equivalent takes place at Aintree!

The Experience

Fun and learning for all ages is the central theme running through our Spring Family Raceday. The racecourse is split into zones, with each one offering a different learning experience – from food provenance to learning about traditional crafts and skills. Pony rides, a petting farm and face painting are all on offer to keep children amused, while one of the highlights of this or any other day at Ascot is our ‘Lamb National’.
