There are few sporting events that can match the rich heritage and history of Ascot Racecourse. Since 1768, the Royal Meeting has established itself as a national institution and the centrepiece of the British summer social calendar as well as being the ultimate stage for the best horseracing in the world.
We want your Group to have the best possible experience of Royal Ascot, so here is some useful information to help you get the best out of your day at the world’s most famous racecourse.
HOW DO GROUPS BOOK TICKETS?
Group bookings can only be made by completing a Group Booking Form. Group Booking Forms must be sent back via post to Group Ticket Sales, Ascot Racecourse Limited, Ascot, Berkshire. WHICH TICKET SHOULD I CHOOSE?
General Admission
General Admission provides excellent viewing facilities and viewing areas. The Parade Ring and track are both within a short walking distance, by crossing the Concourse in the main Grandstand. There are a variety of places to eat, drink and bet.
Other highlights of a General Admission ticket include:
- Over 1,000 free seats are available from which to view the racing.
- Big Screen TVs on the Plaza Lawn.
- Military Bands performing in the Parade Ring before the Royal Procession each day.
- Traditional sing-along around the Bandstand after racing on each day. Free song books provided.
- Food outlets selling a variety of value for money cuisine options.
The Silver Ring
With a less formal atmosphere, the Silver Ring at Ascot still provides an excellent position to watch the racing and the Royal Procession, although you cannot access the Parade Ring or main Grandstand.
There are a variety of places to eat, drink and bet to soak up the wonderful atmosphere.
Other highlights of a Silver Ring ticket include:
- Over 2,000 free seats available from which to view the racing.
- Big Screen TVs.
- Live music entertainment each day.
- Lawned area with many bars and food outlets.
MAY WE BRING CHILDREN?
Yes, accompanied children aged 16 and under are admitted free of charge into the General Admission area and the Silver Ring on all five days of the Royal Meeting.
DO YOU CATER FOR THOSE WITH ACCESS DIFFICULTIES?
Yes, Ascot Racecourse is proud of the high level of access it provides for all racegoers, including older people, those with disabilities and those with children. Any customer who has a specific issue he or she would like to discuss should call our Access Officer on 08707 227 227.
IS THERE SEATING AVAILABLE FROM WHICH TO VIEW THE RACING?
Yes, seating is available in all areas. The General Admission area has 1,000 temporary seats installed especially for the Royal Meeting and the Silver Ring has 2,000 temporary seats available. Seating cannot be pre-booked and is available on a first come, first served basis.

WHERE CAN OUR GROUP PARK?
All car, limousine, minibus and coach parking labels should be pre-booked with tickets. The best available car park space, appropriate to the type of ticket booked – either General Admission or Silver Ring – will be sold first, so book early to avoid disappointment.

WHEN SHOULD WE ARRIVE?
Gates to car parks open at 9.30am.
Racecourse opens at 10.30am.
Royal Procession takes place at 2pm on all five days of Royal Ascot.
Racing begins at approximately 2.30pm.
Racing ends at approximately 5.30pm.
The earlier you arrive, the lighter the traffic is likely to be.
WHERE CAN WE BUY A DRINK?
General Admission Located along the Concourse of the Grandstand and on the Plaza Lawns are a varied selection of bars serving Champagne, Pimm’s, draught and bottled beer, wine by the glass and soft drinks. The Silver Ring Silver Ring customers are also spoilt for choice with a range of bars serving Champagne, Pimm’s, draught and bottled beer, wine by the glass and soft drinks.
WHERE CAN WE BUY FOOD?
General Admission
The Concourse of the Grandstand and the Plaza Lawns offer a range of hot food options including Chinese cuisine, Thai curries, traditional English fish & chips and gourmet burgers. In 2008, we also plan to have a self service restaurant offering a selection of food and drinks from around the world.
The Silver Ring
The Silver Ring Food Court offers a similar variety of cuisine options to the General Admission area.
WHERE CAN WE PURCHASE AFTERNOON TEA?
General Admission
Full afternoon tea, including cakes and sandwiches, is available from the Arundel Restaurant on the Ground Floor of the triple-decker marquee in the Old Paddock area of the Racecourse.
Silver Ring
Silver Ring customers can enjoy afternoon tea in a variety of outlets.
MAY WE BRING A PICNIC?
Many people picnic in the car parks before entering the racecourse however picnics are permitted within the General Admission areas. During the race meeting picnics can be consumed in the Old Paddock or on the Plaza Lawns however they are not permitted trackside of the racecourse or within the Grandstand. Please ask a steward for directions on arrival.
Please note picnics may contain a reasonable amount of alcohol however tables, chairs and gazebos are not permitted. Ascot Racecourse reserves the right to confiscate inappropriate picnics and excessive amounts of alcohol upon entry to the racecourse.
General Admission
Eat Al Fresco in style – ‘Lunch on the Hoof’ is about great food on the go and offers a stylish and fun alternative to the formality of a seated restaurant.Wonderful food presented in a chic and stylish box which is easy to carry and contains everything you need from £35 per person. Simply pre-order and collect your ‘Lunch on the Hoof’ on the day from our helpful and knowledgeable staff. Discounts will be available for groups of 10 or more. Nothing could be simpler. Picnics, gazebos, awnings and alcohol are not permitted in the General Admission area of the Racecourse.
