Free behind the scenes tour for groups

The tour will last approximately half an hour and will include visits to the Parade Ring, weighing room and up to the 4th floor of the Grandstand for amazing views.
Find out about some of the history and traditions of our Royal Racecourse and, if you are brave enough, step on the jockeys weighing scales!

We offer tours on the following racedays for 2010:
Saturday 9th October – October Raceday with the 4th Annual Food Fair
Saturday 30th October – United House Day with Fireworks after Racing
Saturday 20th November –AIB Day and Christmas Shopping Village LIMITED SPACE!
Friday 17th December – Christmas meeting

Tickets for groups to come racing at Ascot start from just £6 per person and coach parking is free of charge on all of the above racedays. You can enhance your day with afternoon tea or a meal in our Bandstand Restaurant.

The tours are available for groups booking 25 tickets minimum in either the Grandstand or Premier Admission.

*Please note the tour does involve a fair amount of walking which includes steps. We can take a maximum of 25 people per tour (if you have a large group they may be split into two groups) All tours are subject to availability.

HOW DO WE BOOK TICKETS?

You can purchase tickets to any Ascot raceday by completing the Ascot Group Booking Form above. Alternatively, you can book over the internet at ascot.co.uk or by telephoning 01344 878 536 .

WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE OUR TICKETS?

Tickets are dispatched within 72 hours of purchase or two months prior to the race meeting, whichever is the later.

WHICH TICKET SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Premier Admission
The top of the range option, this gives you access to all the best viewing areas and facilities on the course. These are located on Level 4 of the Grandstand and the viewing areas by the Winning Post, both of which are exclusive to Premier Admission badge holders. A Premier Admission badge also allows access to the Grandstand Admission area and to the steppings around the Parade Ring.

Grandstand Admission
Grandstand Admission provides excellent facilities and viewing areas at ground level. The Parade Ring and track are both within a short walking distance, by crossing the Concourse in the main Grandstand. There are a variety of places to eat, drink and bet – from the bookmakers in the betting ring to the totepool and betting shops in the main Grandstand. Customers in this area do not have access to any of the levels on the upper floors. However, there is the opportunity to upgrade your ticket on the raceday from a Grandstand Admission ticket to a Premier Admission ticket if you would prefer to use the facilities that are on Level 4, subject to availability.

MAY WE BRING CHILDREN?

Yes, accompanied children under 18 are admitted free entry into the Racecourse on all Ascot racedays.

DO YOU CATER FOR THOSE WITH ACCESS DIFFICULTIES?

Yes, Ascot Racecourse is proud of the high level of access it provides for all racegoers, including older people, those with disabilities and those with children. Any customer who has a specific issue they would like to discuss, please call our Access Officer on 08707 227 227.

IS THERE SEATING AVAILABLE?

Yes, seating is available on the Concourse Level and Level 4 of the Grandstand. Seating cannot be pre-booked and is available on a first come, first served basis.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Premier Admission Dress Code
Both ladies and gentlemen are asked to dress in a manner appropriate to a smart occasion. Many gentlemen wear a shirt and tie with a jacket or suit. Please note that jeans, shorts, t-shirts and sports attire (including football and rugby shirts, sweatshirts and trainers) are not permitted.

Grandstand Admission Dress Code

Whilst we encourage racegoers to wear smart clothes no formal dress code applies except that bare chests are not permitted at any time.

Dress Code for Children
Children aged 18 and under are advised to adhere to the dress code of the chosen admission area. Please note this does not apply to very young children.

Fancy Dress
Fancy dress is permitted at Ascot Racecourse within the Grandstand Admission area on all days outside Royal Ascot. However, fancy dress will not be permitted if it is liable to cause offence to any other racegoers on religious or sexual grounds. Ascot Racecourse Limited reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone deemed to be dressed inappropriately. If your party is considering wearing fancy dress, and in order to avoid any disappointment on the day, we recommend that you call the sales team on 01344 878 536.

WHERE CAN OUR GROUP PARK?

Outside the Royal Meeting all limousine, minibus and coach parking is FREE for all meetings. Car parking is available from £5 per day on all days. Parking can be booked using the Ascot Group Booking Form, via the internet at ascot.co.uk or by calling 01344 878 536. Dedicated parking facilities are available for disabled customers, located close to the main entrance.

WHEN SHOULD WE ARRIVE?

Gates to the parking areas open at 9.30am with the Racecourse opening at 11am during the Flat season and 10.45am during the Jumps season.

WHERE CAN WE BUY A DRINK?

Premier Admission
Level 4, for the exclusive use of Premier Admission ticket holders, has four fully licensed bars; The Brown Jack Bar, Hardy’s, The Galileo Bar and The Swain Bar.

Grandstand Admission
Located along the Concourse of the Grandstand and on the Plaza Lawns is a varied selection of bars serving Champagne, Pimm’s, draught and bottled beer, wine by the glass and soft drinks.

WHERE CAN WE BUY FOOD?

Premier Admission
A range of food can be purchased on Level 4 of the Grandstand at The Brown Jack and The On The Hoof and the Gourmet Delis. Prices start from £5.50.

Grandstand Admission
The Concourse of the Grandstand offers a range of hot and cold food options and an à la carte menu at The Ascot Grill.

MAY WE BRING A PICNIC?

Picnics
Customers are welcome to bring a picnic as long as it is brought to the racecourse in a picnic hamper or cool bag/box.  The picnic areas are situated on the Plaza Lawns and in the Old Paddock.  For the summer months picnics are permitted trackside in the designated picnic area to the East of the Grandstand.  Any customers found picnicking in other areas of the grounds or in the Grandstand will be asked to move and in extreme circumstances may be asked to leave the site altogether.
Picnics are not permitted in the Premier Admission Areas.
Informal picnics are permitted into the car parks, however, formal entertaining will be stopped.
Kitchen Knives will not be permitted and will be confiscated upon entry.
We do not allow barbecues or hot food to be brought onto Racecourse property, this includes all enclosures, coach and car parks.

Furniture
Throughout the year we have a blanket only policy. 
If you have a need to bring a fold away chair, due to a specific medical requirement, please contact our access manager Access Officer, Francis Stewart on 08707 227 227.

Alcohol
Alcohol can only be brought in with a substantial picnic carried in a picnic hamper or cool box and it is limited to 1 bottle of wine or Champagne per person OR 4 cans or bottles of beer.  All bottles must have the seals intact and any bottles of alcohol or soft drinks that have been opened will be confiscated and discarded at the race course entrances.
Spirits, fortified wines and Pimm’s or similar will not be allowed onto the racecourse.
